My English is really basic. Can I still start?
Yes — A1 is literally designed for zero. Your teacher speaks Portuguese too, so you'll never be lost; you'll just be spoken to in English from minute one, with support in Portuguese exactly when needed.
How long until I'm 'fluent'?
From zero to conversational (B1) typically takes 38 weeks on our standard track. To B2 — the level employers check for — around 14 months. Intensive tracks cut that by roughly a third. Anyone promising fluency in 3 months is selling you something.
Are classes really online AND in person?
Yes. Every level runs in both formats with the same teachers and materials. You can switch between them (or mix, e.g. online weekdays + Saturday on campus) whenever your life changes.
What happens in the free placement test?
Twenty minutes: a short adaptive grammar-and-listening test, then a relaxed conversation with a teacher. You get your CEFR level, an honest recommendation, and zero sales pressure. It's free even if you never enroll.
Do I get a certificate?
At every level you complete — an official Harbor certificate stating your CEFR level, hours, and attendance. For internationally recognized certification we prepare you for IELTS, TOEFL, or Cambridge exams.
How many students per class?
Eight, maximum, always. Semi-private groups have four; private classes are 1-on-1. We've turned students away rather than make a group of nine — that's the whole model.
Can I pause my subscription?
Yes — one pause of up to 8 weeks per year, no questions asked. Life happens; your level (and your money) shouldn't expire because of it.
What if I miss a class?
Every class is recorded for your group, and you can book a free catch-up slot in the Conversation Club. Semi-private and private students reschedule directly.
Do you teach kids?
Our programs are designed for adults and young adults (16+). For younger learners we're happy to recommend trusted partners — just ask.
How do payments work?
Monthly or per-term, by card or transfer, in USD or BRL. No enrollment fee, no materials fee, no surprises. Family and student discounts stack up to 15%.
